Interoperability and Patient Access

Share and Access Data

Prior Authorization

Starting in March 2026, Magellan Healthcare (Magellan) must follow a new rule from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The rule requires Magellan to share certain data with the public each year. This data will be posted on this webpage.

The data will include a list of services that require prior authorization.  It will also include a report about prior authorizations from the calendar year.

Patient Access API

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rule states that it must be easy for members to see their health data online.

Magellan must provide a secure online system called a Patient Access Application Programming Interface (API). This system will allow members to see their health and billing data.

Members will be able to see their health records and how much their care costs. Members will also be able to see what the doctor was paid.

Members can share some of their health data with approved apps if they want.

More information can be found in the API section below. This includes how to use the Magellan Health Member Consent Portal.
