Behavioral Health Crisis

Welcome

For life-threatening situations, always call 911.

Emergency Services are available 24 hours a day:  1-800-424-4489.  If you are deaf or hard-of-hearing, call 7-1-1 to use the Louisiana Relay Service.

Prior authorization is not required for emergency service.

You can get help right away if you are having a severe mental health problem or a crisis.

You may get help at:

  • A hospital emergency room
  • A medical or behavioral health clinic
  • Where you live, work or go to school

A crisis counselor will help you get the help you need and then work with you, your family and your provider.

For non-life threatening behavioral health situations:

  • Referrals or assistance meeting basic needs, call 211 from any cell phone or land line in Louisiana to speak to a live information and referral specialist.
